Keurig may be the single most renowned and reputable brand in the coffee brewer industry. They’re also the best-sellers of various K-Cup coffee machines, brewers, and grinders, and it’s safe to say that the vast majority of people have had the opportunity to at least savor the sweet-tasting coffee from one of their products.
It’s quite obvious that such a reputable brand should deliver the instructions manual to their customers along with the package, and that’s the case, or at least it is most of the time. The main purpose of this review is to help people who don’t have the instructions manual or those who find the manual unhelpful for any particular reason.
We are going to discuss several easy steps on how to use Keurig Single Cup machines, and it will be a breeze if you follow the guidelines carefully.
These steps are the easiest way to master handling any Keurig Single Cup Coffee machine. Each step is comprised of two or more sub-steps (or points), so you just need to make sure that you don’t skip out on anything.
Preparing your coffee machine is where you need to begin. Since these beautiful machines aren’t exactly “push the button and profit” type, you’ll need to do some things on your own. To prepare your Keurig Single Cup machine, you’ll need to:
Every coffee maker comes with a water tank, and every coffee maker requires you to fill it on your own. You can look at it this way – if you can’t make coffee without water, you can’t expect your machine to do it either.
Filling the tank is quite easy – all you need to do is simply lift the reservoir’s lid (often located at the very back of the machine), and pour the water. If the water tank is removable, simply remove it from the construction and fill the water. If it’s not, use a mug to fill it.
This step is quite self-explanatory, but there are some modifications to it if the mug you want to drink your coffee from is large. If that’s the case, you should remove the tray before you place your mug on the designated spot. This concludes the preparation stage.
In order to brew your selected beverage, you’ll need K-Cups – the small, instant coffee cups that were designed and patented by Keurig. These incredible inventions come in a variety of tastes and sizes, but they’re all used in the same way. “Brewing the beverage” step is comprised of several sub-steps:
A single instant coffee pack is needed for your coffee, and you should insert it into the coffee brewer. To do so, you will need to lift the machine’s handle (located on the center or the front of your coffee brewer), after which you will place your K-Cup inside it. You won’t have to remove the seal from your K-cups before you insert them – your coffee brewer does it for you.
Different Keurig Single Serve models are equipped with different features and options. However, most of them are supplied with a “choose beverage” and the “ON” button. All you need to do is choose the size and beverage type, and you’re set to go.
Some models are faster while some take quite a while to start. Some Keurig Single Serve coffee makers even require some “priming” time, but most models are capable of getting you a nice, warm cup of coffee in several minutes (3-4 minutes are a standard).
This is another self-explanatory step, and it requires no complex definitions and guidelines. Once the coffee has finished brewing, simply remove the mug.
Most people think that all they need to do are the steps we’ve went through so far, but that’s only half of it. If you want your Keurig coffee machine to continue working, you’re going to need to perform maintenance on a daily basis. Better yet, you’ll need to maintain your machine after each use.
After you’ve made your coffee, the K-cup you used for it will be stuck in the machine. To remove it, you should open the same compartment you did when you inserted it (top handle), and simply dispose of your used K-cups. The only thing you need to worry about is that they’re extremely hot.
Some models are very easy to clean, but some are definitely not. Depending on the size of your machine and the presence (or absence) of separable parts, some machines are quite simple to clean and maintain. For instance, if the water reservoir is removable, you should clean it after each use by removing it from the base and cleaning it in a regular fashion.
You should always remember to clean each part separately and periodically. Most of the time, the manufacturer puts indications on whether or not the parts of a coffee brewer are dishwasher safe. If they are, you’re lucky, as the cleaning can be done via a washing machine.
If that’s not the case, however, you can always use a damp cloth, soap, and a toothbrush to clean the parts. To do so, begin with external parts before you proceed to internal parts.
You should always keep in mind that your coffee machine features electronic parts which can get damaged if they’re exposed to high or freezing temperatures. By storing your machine, you’ll also reduce the risk of potential damages, and you’ll preserve the beautiful outward design (mainly because it won’t be covered with dust particles, for instance).

However, in this article the authentic recipe of Irish coffee has been posted. So, read on to know more about the history, recipe, and some amazing tips to make the perfect cocktail.
In 1942, Joe Sheridan thought of adding whiskey to coffee and offering them to American travelers on a cold, windy night. His main purpose was to make the travelers who were visiting Ireland feel warm and nice on a winter night. This is how the Irish coffee came into existence! Soon, it became an airport speciality in Ireland and gradually got popular across the world. Presently, there are thousands of restaurants and cafes serving Irish coffee to their customers.
When you think of Irish coffee, four important things should come to mind – whiskey, coffee, cream, and sugar and among these the star attraction of Irish coffee is whiskey. Even though you can use any type of whiskey but the first preference for making ideal Irish coffee is to use Irish whiskey.
Preparing Irish coffee is very simple! It doesn’t take more than 10 minutes to make the entire glass. So, it has always been a great cocktail recipe for serving guests. Listed below are the ingredients for making Irish coffee:
Now, let’s start preparing Irish coffee:
The first step is to warm an Irish coffee glass. If you pour hot coffee in a cold glass, it may crack, so warming it is necessary. An easy way to do this is by filling it with warm water. Make sure that you drain the water completely before using it for serving coffee. Then, you need to make sugar syrup. For this, take half cup of water and 1 cup of sugar in a saucepan. Heat it until the sugar dissolves well. Once done, remove it from the flame and let it cool. The entire sugar syrup will not be added in a single glass of coffee. You can use some as per your taste and keep the extra sugar syrup in the refrigerator. It can be utilized next day while making coffee.
The next step is to whip the thick cream well. You need to acquire ropy consistency. After the cream is whipped well, keep it in the refrigerator until used. Subsequently, make black, strong coffee by using freshly grounded beans. Depending on your preferences, you can prepare any kind of coffee. Some people make espresso coffee by using fully automatic coffee brewers while others make filter coffee. However, always make sure that you prepare coffee right before serving. This is because it needs to be real hot at the time you add it to the glass.
Then comes the best part – building the drink in the right manner! Take the warmed glass and put whiskey in it. Add sugar syrup and mix it well. Then, add freshly brewed hot coffee. It is essential to pour freshly brewed coffee that is piping hot. This will help in the cream to float well on the Irish coffee. Gently spoon cold whipped cream on top of the coffee. It should be at least 3/4th inch thick. The cream should float well on the coffee. Add some grounded nutmeg on the cream for flavor. To decorate your coffee, you can try some coffee art on the cream by using powdered nutmeg. Alternatively, you can even garnish the coffee with powdered cinnamon. Serve it instantly!
The most important and tricky part of making Irish coffee is to get the cream float on top. This will take some days to master as the cream should be perfectly whipped for the coffee. The kicker here is to have very hot coffee and very cold cream. Moreover, the cream should be whipped until it reaches a thick consistency. This will help in making it float well in the cup.
Are you still unable to make perfect Irish coffee? Don’t worry!
Once you have learnt the art of making perfect Irish coffee, it is important to serve it well. As it is an alcoholic drink, you are not supposed to serve it in regular coffee cups. A unique way to relish Irish coffee is by drinking and serving it in Irish coffee glasses. Yes, you read it right! The coffee is not served in coffee cups but in Irish glasses or mugs. The trick to make amazing Turkish coffee is to use freshly roasted beans. Next step is to ground the coffee beans. This can be either done by using a mortar and pestle or it can be grounded in a coffee mill. If you want to save yourself from all this hassle then you can purchase a pre-grinded Turkish coffee powder that is available in most of the Middle Eastern supermarkets.
Now, let’s begin with the recipe of making Turkish coffee. Listed below are the ingredients that you require to make your beverage:
Other than the aforesaid ingredients, you would even need an ibrik. Also known as cezve, an ibrik is a special pot that is used for making Turkish coffee. It is a wide bottomed metallic pot that has a spout, a long handle, and a narrow neck. It is a unique utensil and the most important device for making Turkish coffee. If you do not have an ibrik, then you can use a similar shaped utensil or a saucepan.
Once the utensil is selected, the next part is to start preparing coffee. The quantity of coffee powder that you add to the water will highly depend on your preference. Some people like strong brew while others prefer it light. So, you can add the amount of coffee powder as per your choice. If you are making Turkish coffee for the first time then I would suggest you to add one teaspoon of powdered coffee to quarter cup of water.
Preparing Turkish coffee is not a difficult task. Moreover, some important techniques that are mentioned-below will enable you to create the perfect cup of coffee.
You can either use a traditional Turkish coffee maker like the one in the image above or an electric Turkish coffee maker for making a good cup of coffee. The traditional coffee maker is a pot that has to be kept on stove for making coffee. Usually, it is a thick bottomed copper pot, commonly known as ibrik or cezve. There is a long handle attached to the pot so that it becomes easy to use. On the other hand, the electric Turkish coffee makers usually have different techniques to prepare coffee, but once mastered you can make authentic Turkish coffee every time. As compared to the traditional ibrik, the electric ones are much faster as they heat up the water quickly. However, one thing is for sure that coffee made in traditional Turkish coffee pot always tastes better than using any other coffee maker.
Turkish coffee is supposed to be drunk slowly, so that you can relish its flavor sip-by-sip. This is the reason there are special Turkish coffee cups that lets your coffee stay hot for a long time. Also called as ‘fincan,’ the Turkish coffee cups are made of thin porcelain that helps in keeping the brew hot for a longer duration. The cups have the correct thickness of porcelain and can hold steady high temperature for a longer period, until the grounds settle down. Moreover, they keep the beverage hot for certain time. Even though Turkish coffee cups look like espresso cups, but they have unique characteristics that make them different. Serving coffee in the traditional Turkish coffee cups is an important ritual of Turkey.
The Turkish coffee cups were introduced by France in the name of ‘demitasse cup,’ which means half cup as these cups were small in size. Gradually, the size of the Turkish coffee cup kept changing. However, a small sized cup is used even today in most of the houses of Turkey. The most popular and common type of Turkish coffee cup is the demitasse cup that has a handle. The cups that do not have handles are called as ‘Gawa.’
Another kind of cups used for serving coffee is the ‘Ottoman cups.’ These cups have jeweled metal holders with a glass or porcelain cup put into them. They are the better version of Gawa cups as the chances of burning fingers while drinking coffee gets minimized with Ottoman cups. Most of the Ottoman cups are made up of silver or gold motifs, and other precious gems. Even today, coffee is served to very special guests in these cups.
An important aspect while serving coffee is to use the customary Turkish coffee set. The usual coffee set consists of a serving tray, cups with lids, sugar holder with lid, and spoons. The entire set plays a significant role in the presentation of coffee. There are several types of Turkish coffee sets available in the markets and depending on your preference and budget you can purchase them. For your special guests, you could consider buying the Ottoman style cups that come with lids. However, for daily use you could plan to buy a set that is cheaper. Whatever you select, always ensure that you buy the Turkish coffee set that showcases the workmanship and culture of Turkey.
Once you are a proud owner of a beautiful Turkish coffee set, you need to take good care of it by cleaning it carefully. Do not put them in a dishwasher. Always wash them carefully by hand and rinse them with cold water. Then, dry them by using a soft cloth. Cleaning the Turkish coffee sets carefully will ensure that their design and polish remains protected forever.
Now that you have learnt how to make Turkish coffee, you can prepare the authentic brew and serve it to your guests or family!

Let the foam settle for a minute. This is the right time to add 1 tablespoon grinded cardamom. If you are adding grinded cloves, then you can add it to the dallah now.
Once the foam settles, you have to heat the coffee again and bring it to a boil. Foam will be formed once again in the dallah. Switch off the flame and let the coffee settle for 5-10 minutes. This will ensure that the grounded coffee settles to the bottom of the dallah. Remove the pre-heated water from the thermos. If you are adding saffron and rosewater to your coffee, then add it to the emptied thermos now. Pour the coffee into the thermos till you see the grounded coffee coming out of the dallah. You need to stop pouring instantly. Let a small amount of coffee remain at the bottom of the dallah. As per your preference, you can even strain your coffee before adding it to the thermos. Allow the coffee to settle for 5-10 minutes then serve it in the traditional Arabic coffee cups.
Here is an important part! Always pour the coffee slowly into each cup and ensure that you do not fill one cup at a time. The top layer of the coffee is the tastiest one so you need to make sure that you distribute it in each cup by filling them little by little. As the traditional Arabic coffee does not contain sugar, it tastes spicy and bitter. So, you can serve some sweet with the coffee for your guests.
The Arabic coffee beans are available in various supermarkets, malls and souks (Arab market). Usually, the coffee beans are lightly roasted and are light brown in color as compared to the coffee you get in Europe. Moreover, the addition of various spices in the coffee gives it a green color. Traditionally, the coffee beans are freshly roasted and then grounded to provide fresh flavor to the beverage. However, some people prefer buying pre-grinded beans too. There are different varieties of powdered beans available in the markets and some of them even have spices grinded with the beans. This gets better as people do not have to grind spices specially while making coffee.
There are four kinds of roast available in the supermarkets or the local stores that sell spices:
Arabic coffee is made on the stovetop in a special coffee pot that is called as ‘dallah’. It is a kind of saucepan and if you do not have one, then you can even use a Turkish cezve. Dallah has been used for centuries in the Arab countries to brew coffee. It is available in brass, steel, silver, or even gold.
The traditional dallah used to be richly ornamented and engraved with various patterns. It is extremely famous in UAE and you might even come across a huge dallah kept as a decorative piece on the streets of Abu Dhabi. This is crazy as one of the dirham coins of UAE also consists of a picture of dallah.
Preparing coffee in a dallah is a popular practice that has been followed by the Arabs since several years. Once the coffee is boiled in a dallah for few minutes, it is poured in a thermos so that it stays warm for a long time. The coffee is served from the thermos in tiny cups to the guests. Serving the coffee is quite unique as it is served in a small cup that is called as finjaan.
Finjaan is the name of the coffee cups in which Arabic coffee is usually served. These cups are petite, cylindrical in shape, and do not have handles. The cups are usually matching with the inscribed or patterned serving tray. These trays are generally made of silver or brass.
Want to know the best part? The coffee cups are always filled up to half. Guests are usually served two to three servings of coffee. It is customary to accept at least one cup of coffee; however, you can even have more if you like.
The traditional Arabic coffee is made without sugar. However, you can add sugar if you prefer your coffee to be sweet. Also, milk is not added to the coffee, but it can be altered as per your preferences.
Now that you have learnt how to make Arabic coffee, don’t forget to surprise your guests and family members with this spicy beverage!
