How to make coffee without electricity?

Most of us are addicted to our daily dose of coffee which we require every morning. But what happens if you wake up one fine day and realize that your coffee maker is broken. Although we wish that you never have to go through such a day, still we have compiled some of your escape routes.

These methods of coffee preparation are also very useful for those who live in the hostel or those who cannot afford a coffee maker.

Brew Coffee

There are five methods to make coffee without electricity.

1. Using a strainer

Make coffee

• The first step is to heat the water. You can heat the desired amount of water using a microwave, electric kettle or just heat it on the stove. The normal amount of water required for one cup of coffee is 250 ml.
• Measure a number of ground coffee beans that you will require and transfer it to a measuring cup. Normally 15-30 ml of ground coffee is required for a single cup of coffee. If you don’t have a measuring cup, you can use any heat resistant container.
• Pour the hot boiling water directly into the measuring cup which contains ground coffee. You do not require any filters. The flavors will blend properly.

french press water
• Steep the coffee. Allow the coffee to stand for about 3-4 minutes. This will allow the absorption of flavors. Stir for a while and allow it to steep further for another 3 minutes. The longer you steep your coffee, the greater will be the flavor imparted to the cup of coffee.
• Place a strainer carefully above the coffee mug or flask, in which you would like to have your coffee. Pour the solution exactly through the center of the strainer. The strainer helps to hold back the ground coffee particles and prevents them from entering in the solution.
• Add some milk or sugar as per your taste and sit back and enjoy your coffee.

2. Using a filter

• The first step is to heat the water. You can heat the water in the same way as mentioned in the above method.
• Scoop some ground coffee beans in a ‘single coffee filter’. With the help of a string convert this filter into a bag which contains the coffee beans. Leave an adequate length of string at one end to hang outside the coffee mug so you can pull it out.

coffee filter bag

When you tie the filter, you basically convert it into a bag which prevents the spillage of coffee beans into the liquid below. This method can be used to make only a single cup of coffee.

If you want to make multiple cups, you will have to make multiple coffee bags. The coffee which is prepared by this method is usually not very strong. Hence it is advisable to add some extra coffee beans in the bag (around 30 ml).
• Place a coffee bag in your cup and add some hot boiling water into it.
• Let it steep for about 3-4 minutes. There is no need to stir the coffee.
• Remove the coffee bag and enjoy your cup of coffee.

3. Using a saucepan

coffee with saucepan

• A small saucepan will be enough. Place some coffee ground and water in a saucepan. You will require 1 spoon of coffee grounds for 1 cup of water.
• Place the saucepan over the stove and adjust the flame to medium heat. Keep stirring occasionally till the water starts boiling.
• Allow the mixture to boil for about 2 minutes without covering the saucepan. When you turn off the heat, the grounds should settle at the bottom of the saucepan.
• Pour this coffee into the coffee mug. It is essential that you pour the coffee carefully and slowly so that the coffee grounds remain at the bottom while you pour them. There is no need of a strainer to pour the coffee into the cup.

4. Using a French Press

filter press

• The first step is to heat the required amount of water in stove, microwave or kettle.
• Next, place the coffee grounds in the French press machine. You will require around 15 ml of coffee for 125 ml of water. You can use pre-ground coffee or freshly ground coffee.
• Pour some water over these coffee grounds. Ensure that the water is poured evenly and the solution becomes saturated with coffee. When you add water, you will notice a “bloom” which is formed at the surface of the coffee.
• Place this filter over the top of the press and allow steeping to take place. This usually requires about 3-4 minutes.
• Press the plunger stick which is present over the top of the assembly in a steady manner.
• Pour your coffee into the mug and enjoy.

5. Use Instant coffee

Instant coffee

• In this method also you need to heat the water first.
• Then, measure the instant coffee. The amount varies according to the brand. But usually, you will require between 1-2 spoons of coffee.
• Place this directly in the bottom of your coffee mug.
• Add some hot water in the cup. Add milk and sugar if required.
Voila! Your coffee is ready.

Brew coffee

The above-stated methods are extremely useful to make your perfect cup of coffee on a daily basis. They impart a good flavor and aroma to the coffee. They are all very easy to make and doesn’t require much time and effort.

How to Make Pour over Iced Coffee?

Summers are best known for their scorching heat, which leeches out the energy from your body. How have you prepared yourself to tackle the heat this time? There are many drinks to manage it, but from most of them, you either get the chill with no energy, or energy with no chill.

Iced Coffee

A solution to create this balance is ‘iced – coffee.’ It helps you to regain your energy and also reduces your body temperature. Iced coffee in summers works in the same way as hot coffee does in winters.

So how do you make a pour over iced coffee?

Here is the deal; you do not have to prepare a list of prerequisites to make a pour-over iced coffee. All you need to know is that it is very easy to make. Most of you will be in awe… when you will get to know about the process completely. So hold on, you are just a step away from knowing the recipe from the vault!

pour over iced coffee

Iced-coffee is prepared by brewing the finely grounded coffee in hot water and then later it is poured over ice where it trails down the rocks, getting cooled.

 Iced Coffee

There are many other processes which can be used to make iced-coffee, like using the cold brewing method.

In the cold brewing method, you will have to wait for a long time to brew the coffee and get the flavor from the ground completely, as it is a very slow process due to low temperature.

There are simple steps to make your iced-coffee.

Start with grinding the beans

Iced Coffee

Grind the coffee beans in a quality grinder. It will ensure you that the ground obtained is of an even and fine texture. It will also guarantee that the extraction of flavor from the ground will happen completely.

Get some hot water ready

Boil the water in your tea kettle and make sure that its temperature is between 195°F – 205°F. Usually, the extraction of flavor from the coffee grounds at this temperature yields the best result with optimum flavors.

Using the pour-over coffee makers

There are many pour-over devices which can be used to help you brew the iced-coffee. These devices have different techniques and are specified for different ground sizes. But their ultimate purpose is to extract the flavor and aroma from the coffee. You can use any of these devices according to your need.

ice coffee maker

Assemble the device and rinse the filter with hot water once in a while for hygiene, and also so that it does not leave any flavor of paper in the coffee.

Next, add some ice to the base vessel of the device. Try to use large ice-cubes rather than small ones. This will help to cool the brewed coffee instantly as there will be more contact between ice and coffee.

Set the ground and add water

Now, spread the coffee ground on the filter paper evenly and start adding water at a temperature between 195°F to 205°F for the ground to absorb it. Make sure you add water evenly over the ground. Try to shake the device in concentric circles for hot water to fall evenly.

 Iced Coffee

Kindly make sure that you never add the hot water continuously in the center of the filter. After adding the first round of water, wait for about 30 seconds and then go ahead and pour rest of the water in the filter. By this process, the ice at the bottom of the vessel will melt completely.

Pour it in your cups

After the brewing has stopped, take out the filter paper carefully so that no ground spills inside the vessel. Now move the vessel in a swirling motion to melt the remaining ice.

Get your cups ready to drink the freshly prepared iced coffee. Add more ice in your cup for that extra chilling effect, making it last longer.

How would you like to serve it?

Iced-coffee should be served instantly because it tastes best when it is chilled. In the hot brewing method, the sugar and other ingredients are added in the coffee before cooling it, because the solubility of sugar is high in a hot liquid. Alternatively, you can add sugar syrup to the final product.

Pour over iced coffee with ice-cream

Iced-coffee can also be served with ice-cream and whipped cream, which makes it more enticing to have in summers, and also gives more energy. It is also served with cocoa-powder or coffee beans, which gives it a ‘non-blended-milkshake’ like flavor.

Various accessories

pour over devices

The brewing process is controlled by a slow-pouring kettle, which is very essential during extraction of flavor evenly from the coffee ground. Apart from using the kettle, use of various pour-over devices are also specified for different purposes. Some are mentioned below:

It is a cone-shaped dripper which is perfect for the grind setting between fine and medium. It is equipped with spiral ridges in its inner walls. This design makes its walls non-sticky and extracts the flavor from the sides as well as from the bottom. This filter is comparatively thinner than other pour over filters. It also provides minimal paper taste.

• Woodneck

This device has three main parts: a wood collar, a glass decanter, and a cloth filter. It has a wire hoop which keeps it separate from the glass walls. This device is used for fine to medium coffee grinds. The benefit of a cloth filter is that it eliminates any papery taste to obtain the true coffee flavor.

 Iced Coffee

It contains a pour over filter which has a glass decanter at the bottom. In this device, a thick paper filter is used which is perfect for medium or medium-coarse grind. Using the thick paper renders the water to flow slowly, hence the dwell time is more than which we get in another pour over methods.

These were a few devices which will render you to experiment with your coffee and obtain variable results. Now you have a bag full of tricks to brew your desired coffee by selecting the right devices.

Become a professional over time. Enjoy your iced-coffee with different flavors and beat the heat!

How to Use a Pebo Vacuum Coffee Maker?

Most of us can never say no to a cup of coffee every morning. This cup of survival juice is our only hope to get through the entire day. A single cup of coffee is enough to make our drowsy eyes wide open and prepare our brain for its functioning throughout the day. It is pretty evident that caffeine makes most of the people addicted to it, but it is a good kind of addiction.

What is Pebo?

A recently launched machine which has a novel idea to make your favorite cup of coffee is the ‘Pebo Vacuum Coffee Maker’. This machine is made with a very interesting principle. It uses heat energy to create a vacuum in the jar.

pebo coffee maker

The vacuum area is created in the jar between the water and the chamber where coffee beans are kept. This vacuum effectively helps to extract all the essential oils from the beans and imparts a rich and natural flavor to the espresso.

The pebo vacuum coffee maker is very easy to clean and handle, and proves to be an essential appliance if you want a relishing cup of coffee every morning. It’s available in a sleek attractive design which can fit in any corner of your kitchen.

How to make coffee with Pebo?

The ‘Bodum Sephon Coffee pot’ also known as siphon. It is a simple vacuum coffee pot which you can use to make a hassle free cup of coffee every morning. Given below is the proper method to use your siphon brewer:

grind coffee beans

Once you have the desired coffee, you can grind it using a grind stone. Ground coffee is also available in the markets, but it is preferable to make fresh grounded coffee because it enhances the flavor.

  • Measure the amount of ground coffee using the scoops provided and put them in a container.

scoop of coffee

1 scoop should be enough for a small cup of coffee. But if you are planning to make a big mug of coffee you will require 4 scoops of coffee.

NOTE: Too much coffee will make it bitter while too less will give only a faint flavor.

  • Ensure that the pot is dry before you begin. It will crack if applied when wet.
  • Apply the filter on the top of the chamber and pull the spring down till it hooks to the bottom of the tube.
  • Pour a desired amount of water into the glass jug.

Tip: If you pre-heat the water, it makes the process much faster. It may be a little cumbersome, but it protects the glass jar from wear and tear.

pebo coffee maker

Heat the water till the pre-boiling stage before you use it. This will also make it easier for the cleaning process. The glass bowl is not very fragile. But it is not microsafe, hence do not put the glass jar directly in the microwave.

  • Put the bottom portion of the Pebo on a gas, electric, or methylated spits stove and set the flame to medium heat. For gas stoves, we recommend to use a heat diffuser.
  • Place the upper part of the Pebo at an angle to the lower pot. It will ensure that the boiling takes place at a lower temperature avoiding injuries.

Pebo Vacuum Coffee Maker

  • Once the water in the bottom begins to boil, make the top part straight. Be careful as the surface is hot. Now seal the rubber seal tightly. This is the most essential part.
  • Immediately the water will start rising in the top portion. Most of it will go upwards, but there has to be some water remaining in the lower pot.

Pebo Vacuum Coffee Maker

  • When you heat the water, you need to take care that the temperature is not very high. If the temperature is too high, then sufficient vacuum will not be created. Hence it is necessary to lower the heat if the temperature is too high.

vacuum coffee maker

  • When the temperature is just right, place the ground coffee into the upper chamber and mix it with the water. Keep the heat low after this stage.
  • Wait for around 45-60 seconds. Stir the coffee and remove the pot from the heat.
  • Allow the coffee to slowly drain into the lower chamber.

Pebo Vacuum

  • When it is almost done, there will be small bubbles which escape off. Once that is over, then you can pull out the upper chamber. Due to the rubber seal attachment, it may be hard for you to pull away. Tilt the upper part a little to remove it smoothly.

NOTE: The upper part also contains the spring. Be careful about the the hook because if it comes out, then there will be nothing but a mess.Pebo Vacuum Coffee maker

  • Allow the coffee to settle for about 5 minutes before you drink it. It will allow the flavor to blend properly.

The final words

The unique vacuum coffee maker ensures that the essential flavors have been extracted from your freshly ground coffee beans. They not only give an authentic texture but also impart a unique color to the coffee.

The rubber seal ensures that all the aromas are preserved in the jar itself. This Pebo Vacuum Coffee Maker is an essential component of your kitchen. If you haven’t bought it yet, you should buy it now!

Immersion Cold Brew Coffee Maker – Cold Brew Coffee Pitcher vs. Mason jar

There are many types of coffee makers available in the market. If you are planning to buy a coffee maker, we would like to suggest a cold brew coffee maker. Since many options are not available for this type of product, choosing becomes a relatively easy task because most of them are similar in cost, features, and functions.

cold brew

Cold brew is becoming the latest sensation in the coffee world, and there are many supporting evidence to prove that this is a good change.

Health benefits of cold brew

For those who are not aware of the health benefits of cold brew, it is actually less irritating for the stomach. And hence most of them who cannot have regular coffee due to acidity problems switch to cold brew with absolutely no symptoms. There is no discomfort associated with drinking cold brewed coffee.

Please note here that cold brew is not equivalent to cold coffee.

The cold brew coffee has a very subtle aroma which has a soothing effect on the body. The taste is almost sweet and very contrasting to the regular coffee which is bitter in taste. But the best part is that even a full mug of cold brew coffee will give you absolutely no symptoms of bloating.

What is cold brew?

Cold brew is a method of preparation of coffee where you need to grind the coffee coarse and steep in water for 24 hours. The distinguishing factor is that coffee is made using chilled water or normal water but not hot water. Because the temperature at which brewing is done is very low, it takes quite a long time to get the coffee brewed.

cold brew coffee

The extraction time for coffee on an average is about 12 hours. But the longer is kept for extraction, the better is the taste of the coffee. It is sometimes kept for 24-48 hours to increase the amount of solids dissolved in the water, which enhances the flavor and texture of the coffee. The long hours of brewing also help in the extraction of the essential oils from the coffee beans which impart a blissful aroma to the coffee.

Cold brew is synonymous with ‘cold pressed coffee’. However, this is a misnomer considering that there is no pressure mechanism which comes into play while making cold brew.

The unique feature of making cold brew is that it is made at low steep temperatures. At such low temperatures, many substances are not dissolved in the solution which is seen as the many health benefits.

Cold brew is very different from iced tea. While iced tea can be made from any method of brewing, cold brew has a particular factor regarding the temperature and duration of brewing. Iced tea doesn’t contain brewing, it is just a recipe which serves cold coffee with a few ice cubes. Iced tea can be made with cold brew too.

Cold Brew Coffee Pitcher vs Mason Jar

There are a few differences between immersion coffee brew maker types – the pitcher and the Mason jar. The pitcher is more recent in accordance with the convenience of most of the people. Given below is a detailed guide to the pros and cons of the two varied products.

Cold Brew Coffee Pitcher

The coffee pitcher has been recently introduced in the market and has a very sleek design and appears to be visually aesthetic.

Mason jar

It is comparatively an old and rustic design that involves regular cleaning of the filter which makes it very cumbersome. In the Mason jar type, you can use two types of filters

  • Cotton filter
  • Screen filter

The cotton filters are very easy to clean but require a lot of maintenance. While the screen filters don’t require regular cleaning and are hence easier to use than the cotton filters which have to be discarded after a few turns.

Similarities between a cold brew pitcher and a Mason jar

When you have to compare between a cold brew pitcher and a Mason jar, there are few striking similarities between the two which cannot go unnoticed.

  • Both of them have been supplied with an airtight lid which helps to give the subtle aroma to the coffee.
  • They both are made of glassware, which is an inert substance and does not impart any flavor of its own to the coffee which is brewed inside.
  • Both of them are very easy to use and make good ‘cold brewed coffee’.
  • They are both not very expensive products.
  • Both of them require very less space and can fit easily in the fridge.
  • Both of them can be used to make cold brew tea too.

How are they different?

  • The cold brew pitcher has a very sturdy filter attached to the glass pitcher.
  • The filter is very easy to clean.
  • The pitcher looks much better than the Mason jar.

At this stage, it may appear that the cold brew pitcher is at an advantage but there are some cons about the product too which you need to consider while buying the pitcher.

  • Some products do not have a sturdy filter. The filter may be wobbly.
  • The filter is not very fine which means that you need to grind your coffee to make it coarse. The issue with coarse coffee grinding is that the steeping takes a longer amount of time.
  • Even though the pitcher is provided with an airtight seal, some products may not be tightly closed leaving potential space for air to come in and out.
  • The pitcher is made of a very thin glass.

Mason jar with metallic screen

How to make cold brew coffee using the pitcher or Mason jar with metallic screen?

  • For making a fresh batch of cold brew coffee, add about 1 1/2 spoon of coarsely grounded coffee in the mesh filter.
  • Pour a few drops of water over the coffee to make it wet. Keep stirring the solution till it becomes saturated with coffee.
  • Add a little extra amount of water after it seems to be saturated.
  • Add some water to the pitcher below and fasten the airtight cap.
  • Keep it in the fridge and allow it to steep for at least 12 hours. It is always better to steep the coffee for a longer duration of time.
  • Once the steep process has completed, remove the filter and serve.
  • You may dilute it with water or milk.

Basically, both the products work on the same principle. Hence apart from the outer appearance, they are not very different from each other.

How to make pour-over coffee?

The pour-over method of brewing coffee is the easiest and fastest way to make yourself a perfect and mouth-watering cup of coffee. It is one of the oldest techniques which use a dripper – a funnel made from filter paper. The pour-over brewing is more preferable by coffee makers as it allows them to keep a bird’s eye view in the coffee making process rather than just pressing the button on a machine and wait for the cup to fill.

You might be wondering what happens inside the machine when you press that magic button to get your usual office coffee. But in the pour-over method, it is all in front of you, done by your own hands.

In the pour-over brewing method, you happen to pour the water in shifts by hand meticulously, which allows the optimum extraction of flavor from the coffee ground. Drippers are very handy, and like a Portable coffee maker machine, even they can make a full cup of coffee in one go.

pour over coffee

The pour-over method has been coming out as the most efficient method of brewing coffee because it allows the optimum extraction of flavors from the ground. This is crazy but true in today’s machine oriented world.

Role of paper filter

Using a disposable paper filter has its own benefit; it can be disposed along with the remaining used coffee grounds without any hassle to clean the filter. Permanent filters are also in uses which are made of thin perforated metal sheets or from fine plastic mesh that stop the grounds but simultaneously allow the coffee infused water to pass through.

paper filter

Permanent filters eliminate the need to purchase a new filter every time when you intend to make coffee. These permanent filters add to the maintenance of the machine. But subsequently lower the overall cost and save time in bulk production.

perforated steel filter

So folks, the bottom line?
Pour-over brewing is an easy process and it can be done by following the steps given below.

What is the pour-over method?

pour over process 2

In this method the hot water moves in through the coffee ground absorbing its flavor, essence and aroma, and drips down in the catchment space. It is a rather sophisticated way of getting your coffee ready. There are some processes which occur simultaneously and subsequently at the time of pour-over method. These processes are:

Pouring the ground in Pour-over device

Start with the grinding of coffee beans to get the fine ground. Make sure the size of the ground particles is equal to achieve a smooth, even taste. You need to fill the dripper with one-half to two-third coffee ground – no less, no more – here we are talking about ‘the perfect brew!’

So you need to keep a check and balance on the amount of ground to be used. Generally, the ratio of 60-70 gm of coffee per liter of water is perfect for the right extraction of flavor.

Soaking the coffee

As the title suggests, you introduce hot water to the freshly grounded coffee beans in the dripper. In this process, the water temperature is very crucial for obtaining the optimum result. The water poured should have the temperature between 195°F to 205°F. When the wetting process begins, make sure that the water is evenly streamed out from the kettle and is added to the coffee ground in an even manner too.

soaking of coffee

Try best to pour the water slowly in concentric rotations. Do not let the water stream fall continuously on the center of the filter. But here’s the kicker, stir the ground in an X-shape, not to overdo it of course – perfection needs efforts!

After adding the first share of water, you need to wait for about 30 seconds to let the carbon dioxide escape the ground. Then again, add the remaining water in a smooth manner to ensure that the coffee ground is completely soaked. You do not need any specific device to pour the hot water. But for better control over the flow of water, you can use the narrow-spout kettle which will direct the water accurately.

pour over device

Dissolution of the ground

This term is similar to dissolving of coffee grounds in water. During the soaking process the hot water, due to its high temperature, dissolves the soluble substances quickly. Moreover, along with coffee, there are other unpleasant soluble substances present, which take some more time than coffee to get completely dissolved.

This renders you to the withdrawal of brewing at the right moment when the essential pleasant soluble substances have dissolved, and unpleasant ones have not!

Diffusion of the coffee

It is that crucial and sensitive process where the flavors begin to leave the coffee ground and blend with water. This process is well known to us in our general day to day lives, but probably we have not heard of it since our school days – Osmosis.

The right timing

Want to know the best part? The major portion of coffee beans is not soluble in water. But again, the amount which is soluble has its own chemistry. If the extraction is between 19-20% from the coffee mass, then the brew is perfectly done. You will get that right flavor in your coffee.

pour over process

But if you miss it and extract more of it, then you will get that unpleasant, sour taste. So the withdrawal of brewing timing is prominent during the process. Try to do the whole process in a slow manner. The slower it works, the better result you get.

Moreover, the speed of water dripping down from the ground depends on the size of the ground. Finer ground will make the water flow slowly through it. And contrarily larger grains will easily let the water to pass through. Apart from these factors the brewing process always has a trial and error element. So, do not feel disappointed if you fail to get it right in one go.

Some more facts to ponder upon

When the brewing process ends, water will continue to drip from the filter for about 20 to 60 seconds depending on the type of ground used. For the whole process, the time limit for the dark roasted coffee is 2.5 to 3 minutes. Whereas, for the light roasted coffee it is 3 to 4 minutes. These timings include the final dripping time too.

brewed coffee

So now you know the course of action and tricks required to get started with your perfect brew of a pour-over coffee cup. The points mentioned above will help you achieve the right flavored coffee.

Can Coffee Help You Sleep?

Coffee has gained a notoriety to be the drink of preference when someone has to rise up or may remain wide-awake for a long time. Coffee holds caffeine, a well-known drug/stimulant. For some time, specialists have been advising their patients to eliminate espresso on the off chance that they experience difficulty resting or considerably experience the ill effects of different therapeutic situations, for example, hypertension. Notwithstanding, did you ever realize that coffee can likewise be utilized to enable you to sleep or take rest?

It may seem to be insane when we examine our body’s response when we take 2 or 3 cups of espresso, we can start to see precisely why it can entirely have the inverse impact from what we anticipate. Truth be told, the more espresso we take, the more worn out we could eventually feel as the body keeps on responding the unending supply of espresso we continue immersing inside our structure.

Knowing what Caffeine is!

If you want to explore why people feel considerably more worn out subsequent to getting a charge out of a pleasant hot measure of coffee, it is imperative to see how caffeine influences the human body overall. Caffeine smothers adenosine capacity and makes the body create a greater amount of the hormones cortisol and epinephrine.

These hormones are in charge of furnishing your body with that additional surge of vitality and adrenaline, exactly when you require it. This basically awakens you and gives you an alert feeling. Nevertheless, such impacts are short lived. The body rapidly separates the caffeine, dissipating these impacts.

Adenosine Receptors!

Caffeine stifles the capacity of the adenosine receptors which are in charge of backing off your body’s framework. They enable you to feel more casual. To recompense, your body provides, considerably increased, adenosine receptors.

The inquiry emerges that what results when the greater part of the caffeine has given up your body? Once the impacts have died down, the body has an additional amount of adenosine receptors. Such receptors show in your body, you will rapidly discover that you turn out to be much more sleepy and fatigued than before. This is the reason such a large number of individuals that drink caffeine “crash.” At times, individuals are so worn out and exhausted that they understand to battle these consequences is by drinking enough espresso.

Coffee provokes Diuresis

Espresso is a diuretic in nature. It means that it urinates you. On the off chance that you are a natural coffee drinker, it does not demand long to feel the impacts of espresso. You will drink it and move towards the washroom. There are chances of your going to the toilet again and again, in case you take too much coffee.

Your body will rapidly drain the liquids it requires and you will end up plainly dried out. On the off chance that you are not taking water with your espresso, you may rapidly drain the stored water. This thickens the blood and drives it more gradually throughout the body. Due to this, blood stream confines oxygen and different supplements which eventually take more time to approach different parts of your body, including your mind. With less supply of oxygen, you will realize that you start feeling worn out and languid.

The Coffee Circle…

The caffeine in espresso cannot be overlooked. Caffeine enables you to feel more wakeful. In any case, those impacts are normally fleeting and right after drinking some coffee, you feel worn out and drowsy once more. How to deal with this? Start drinking more espresso.

The more espresso you sip, the more you urinate, and ultimately the more you get dried out. This significantly slows down your blood stream. It makes you feel tired and discovers that why such a large number of individuals drink espresso to such an extent.

Tragically, on the off chance that you are drinking espresso to remain wakeful, this cycle is at last destined to disappointment. Nevertheless, in the event that you are experiencing difficulty dozing; some espresso could wind up being the best drug for you.

Coffee! A Sleeping Assistance…

If you often experience difficulty relaxing, look for the help of a specialist. On the off chance that you have had a go at everything on those evenings when you experienced difficulty sleeping a single cup of hot coffee would be the remedy.

Presently you should take espresso just before sleeping. This is on the grounds that the underlying impacts of caffeine will, make you feel active. 4 different methods for making Great Iced Coffee at Home

Why spend a valuable amount of money on purchasing iced coffee from the shop when you can make your own for a much lesser price?

Especially in the summer, when it gets too hot that you don’t want to step outside of your home, it’s the perfect time for the shop-keepers to sell cold-brews at a much expensive price as compared to their original worth. So, if you want to avoid this expensive purchase, we’ve got you all covered.

In the below-mentioned guide, we will show you 4 different methods of how to make great iced coffee at home.

Required Ingredients

For a delicious homemade iced coffee, all you need is,

  • Sugar,
  • Ground Coffee
  • Milk

You can use almost any type of milk you want for this process. Same goes for the ground coffee but if you want the real taste, go for the stronger grounds.

1st Method

  • Take a little bit of water and boil it. When one can use hot tap water, we recommend using boiling hot water.
  • Add some ground coffee in a glass. The quantity of this ingredient depends on the personal choice of its owner. If you’re looking for strong coffee, add some extra coffee in the glass to produce a flavor rich brew.
  • Add 2 table spoons of sugar. If you’re looking for the extra buzz, you can also add 2 tea spoons of sugar.
  • As the water gets boiled, add a small amount of boiling water in the glass to mix coffee and sugar.
  • Start stirring to prepare a uniform mixture of the aforesaid ingredients. Keep on stirring for quite some time so that the sugar and coffee get dissolved completely.
  • Once you feel that the sugar and coffee are thoroughly mixed, add some milk in a quantity which should be good enough for single serving. Afterward, give it a small stir.
  • Now you can use it as such or add some ice cubes to give it the extra thrill. For users looking for extra excitement, they can even add some ice cream in the coffee.

2nd Method: Cold Brew Iced Coffee

  • Brew your coffee in a usual manner. However, keep it twice as strong as compared to that of a normal occasion. You will be adding ice cubes later on so it is imperative to brew a stronger coffee for this method.
  • Use the same quantity of coffee grounds which you would use on a regular occurrence. But when it comes to the quantity of water, use half of it.
  • Transfer the brewed coffee into a mug and fill it up with loads of ice cubes. Allow the coffee to reach the room temperature with the help of melting ice cubes. In addition, the ice cubes will dilute coffee.
  • Once you notice that the coffee is cold enough, as there are some ice cubes which aren’t melting, now is the perfect time to drink it.

3rd Method

  • Prepare a cup of coffee as usual.
  • Take out a blender and pour freshly prepared coffee in it.
  • As compared to the quantity of your coffee, add 1 quarter of milk in the blender.
  • Turn on the blender and start blending. Keep it running for almost 10 seconds. Remember, the ice should be blended in such a way that it forms the shape of a rough snowball.
  • At this stage, one can add 2 table spoons or tea spoons of sugar as per his own taste.
  • After adding sugar, once again start blending until the entire mixture forms a smooth shape.
  • Your Great Iced Coffee is ready.

4th Method

  • Take 1lb ground coffee in a pitcher. You can also use a container or even a large basket for this purpose.
  • Add 7.5 liters of cold water in the pitcher/container.
  • Start stirring. Keep on doing so until all the ingredients (coffee grounds + water) are uniformly dissolved.
  • Cover the pitcher and let it remain as such for at least 10 hours. Make sure that you leave the pitcher in a cooler place.
  • After 10 hours, take out a separate pitcher and cover it up with a mesh strainer.
  • Grab a coffee filter and carefully place it inside the mesh-strainer. If the coffee filter isn’t available, you can always use a couple of paper towels.
  • Start pouring the mixture of grounds + water through the mesh strainer. In this way, you will be able to separate the grounds from that of the iced coffee.

Useful tips

  • Instead of using coffee grounds, users can also use coffee powder.
  • The type of cream which you could add in the iced coffee depends entirely on your personal preference and the no of calories which you want to intake.
  • Always use enough grounds while preparing iced coffee. Because when you can dilute it at the end, there is no such solution to a relatively weak batch of coffee.

Tips to Choose The Best Bag of Coffee Beans

Coffee is the most popular drink in the morning all over the world. Some people like instant coffee, which takes a minimum of time to prepare; others prefer a quality ground product. But the most ideal is whole bean coffee. In order to get real pleasure from the taste and smell of the drink, you need to know how to choose the right coffee beans and how to distinguish good coffee from low-quality one.

How to choose the best coffee beans

First of all, to choose the best coffee beans, you need to decide which of the varieties best suits you for smell, taste, strength and some other characteristics.

Arabica or Robusta

The most common varieties of coffee are Arabica and Robusta. Arabica gives the drink a stunning, refined taste, and exquisite aroma. In addition, its taste is different and depends on the climate and fertility of the soil.

Robusta is good, but only if you mix it with Arabica: it gives the drink a density, bitterness and firm foam. Robusta contains more caffeine and has a stronger taste. However, the varieties are often mixed, making bouquets more complex and unusual. The roasting also influences the taste.

What should you pay attention to while choosing coffee beans?

When choosing good coffee beans, you should pay attention to the following things:

  • Coffee beans should be large (in the case of Arabica – 6-8 mm) or small (Robusta 4-5 mm). The beans should be of the same size and without stains.
  • The integrity of the beans. They should be even, without cracks and not split.
  • Coffee beans should gleam and not be tarnished or gray. These flaws indicate that the product has been stored for a long time or the packaging has been damaged during transportation.
  • The smell of beans should be smooth, without moldy or rancid flavor.
  • A good freshly roasted coffee cannot be cheap. Do not be fooled at a low price: such a product is probably of poor quality.
  • In recent years, customers have a great interest in green coffee beans. According to rumors, green coffee contributes to rapid weight loss, gives unprecedented cheerfulness and raises working capacity. In fact, it is just a semi-finished product, which cannot be brewed at home.

As for the choice of brand, it is better to choose coffee from a well-known and well-proven manufacturer. It is recommended to take beans in specialized shops, where there is a large choice.

Coffee packaging

It is worth paying attention to the packaging: it should be free of defects and contain all the information about the product.

Packaging should be sealed – preferably from a three-layer foil with a valve, which is necessary not only for the evaluation of the aroma but also for the release of carbon dioxide produced during roasting. At the same time, the valve is made in such a way that the air does not enter inside – removing excess carbon dioxide and preventing oxygen from entering allows preserving the original taste of coffee.

You should also check the date of roasting and packaging, and if there are doubts – ask to smell the coffee.

There are many options for roasting. Remember the main thing: the lighter it is, the more caffeine is contained in the beans. Unroasted or green beans have a light gray or greenish color and are odorless. Beans of dark roasting have a very rich flavor and aroma.

Here are the main degrees of roast.

  • Scandinavian roast. It is the lightest roast. Beans have a light brown color. It is used for elite varieties of alpine Arabica. This roast is characterized by a pronounced sour taste and a high content of caffeine.
  • American roast. It is considered an average degree of roast. It gives coffee a bit of bitterness and a dark color.
  • Vienna roast. It is also an average roast but stronger than the American one. The beans are slightly dark and have a delicate aroma. It has a little bitter taste.
  • French roast. It is a stronger roast which gives coffee a rich taste and aroma with some bitterness. The amount of caffeine is average. This roast is one of the most popular.
  • Continental roast. This roast is ideal for espresso. It is slightly darker than the French one, so the beans have an even more intense and vivid taste.
  • Italian roast. It is the darkest roast. The taste and aroma of coffee are bright, saturated, with a strong bitterness.

When buying coffee, pay attention to the date of roasting. The fresher it is, the better the taste.

Major coffee exporters and coffee features

Best coffee beans

Taste and aroma of coffee beans also depend on the area in which they were grown. Climatic conditions, soil, and trees that grow near the plantations influence greatly.

Depending on the geographical location, coffee beans have the following flavor characteristics:

  • Brazil. Strong and rich coffee with a tart nutty taste.
  • Colombia. Velvet and well-balanced taste with a slight sourness.
  • Costa Rica. Coffee has a very dense and delicious aroma.
  • Guatemala. Coffee with a taste of chocolate and unusual flavor of species and flowers.
  • India. Strong coffee with a pronounced chocolate flavor.
  • Ethiopia. Coffee with a light bitterness and light berry flavor.
  • Kenya. A sort of coffee with a light sourness and pleasant berry aroma.

Coffee can be mixed and not mixed. A high-quality blend of coffee should consist of at least 6 kinds of Arabica and Robusta from different plantations. The beans should also be roasted separately. After mixing, coffee acquires a unique taste and a special flavor. Experienced professionals and people who love coffee often mix different coffee beans to get the most suitable taste of coffee.

Blends are good because their taste and aroma remain unchanged for a long time. But their quality depends on many factors: a good combination of different varieties, characteristics of each variety and degrees of roast.

There are lots of recipes for blends. Some are created for making espresso, some are suitable for breakfast, and others are for the afternoon.

The Bottom Line

Many people cannot imagine their morning without a cup of fresh coffee. So it is very important to choose the best bag of coffee beans to enjoy its incredible taste. Pay attention to the condition of beans, packaging, brand, smell, and degree of roast.

Moreover, we recommend you not to buy ground coffee since it loses its flavor very quickly. It is better to buy only whole bean coffee and grind it by yourself.
